Ontario’s Best Ice Cream – As chosen by you!

We all scream for ice cream! Summer is the perfect time to indulge in a delicious treat, and shops and corner stores across the province are stocked and ready to serve you. Where to start? We asked you where in Ontario can you find the best scoop, cone or ice cream sundae and here’s what you told us:

1. Twins Ice Cream Parlour – Port Rowan, Ontario

First opened in July 1993, Twins Ice Cream Parlour serves tasty milkshakes, banana splits, sundaes, and of course homemade waffle cones. Grab a cone and wander around Port Rowan, a beautiful village on the shores of Lake Erie.

2. Kawartha Lakes Dairy – Bobcaygeon, Ontario

This is a ice cream cone with history. 2012 marks the proud 75th anniversary of the Kawartha Dairy Company, a Canadian family-owned company. Although it has grown tremendously from its early days, it remains headquartered in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, where it was founded.

3. Charlie D’s – Barry’s Bay, Ontario

With tasty flavours like campfire cream and rhubarb ginger, often served by Charlie D. himself you’ll feel right at home in this Barry’s Bay ice cream shop.

4. Ed’s Real Scoop – Toronto, Ontario

Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, owner Ed Francis has made this ice cream shop famous by making ice cream, gelato, chocolates, candy, cookies and hot chocolate right in the store!

5. Dariee Delite – Brantford, Ontario

This retro ice cream shop is famous for their “delites” – Peanut Butter, Hot Fudge Brownie, Twist, Turtle. Pop over to their Facebook page, and admire all their creations, including the Gold Medal Delite inspired by the Olympics.

6. Slickers – Bloomfield, Ontario

Real homemade ice cream, crafted in beautiful Prince Edward County. For many this artisinal ice cream is well worth the drive.

  1. KAWARTHA Dairy Ice Cream (and milk/cream) is the only kind we buy/eat. We use it in our Dining Room too of course. We live closest to the Minden store.
